Maya McLeroy’s writing career has taken her many places: beneath an oak tree on her family’s farm in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, a cubicle where she wrote blog posts about shoe insoles, the Kidd Creative Writing Workshops, college newsrooms, the editorial board of a sports magazine, and the streets of Oxford and Paris which prompter her to start the newsletter, One More Sip. Her first love will forever be poetry.
When she grows up, Maya hopes to be like the poetry teachers who have changed her life through their endless creativity and belief in their students. Until then, you may find her going on long walks, believing in Oxford commas, or loving the moon in all its phases.
She lives above an Italian restaurant in Eugene, Oregon, where she is writing her undergraduate thesis on growing up and root systems. She will graduate from the University of Oregon’s Clark Honors College next spring.
